WORKERS OUTSIDE THE GYM, TOO
Forget the sheer volume of hours—measurable in years—it takes to build our physiques. I'm not talking about the gym here. The self-discipline we employ at the gym doesn't suddenly manifest itself when we walk into a gym and then disappear as soon as we exit. This work ethic carries through every aspect of our lives.
Bodybuilding isn't a hobby; it's a lifestyle. When we commit to working our butts off in the gym, and we're not paid one red cent for it, working hard just becomes an aspect of our personality. I remember telling myself as a young man that I always wanted to work harder in the gym than I did at work. It wasn't because I was a poor worker or wanted an easy job—in fact, I was in construction at the time. No, I did this because I wanted to be able to go home at night and tell myself that my job wasn't the hardest part of my day. Being able to say this honestly actually made life and work seem easier.
It's no coincidence that many bodybuilders started out as manual laborers. We know what it takes to work hard. We have the physical capability to do it, as well as the mental capacity to push through and get physically demanding tasks done without crying about being too tired. This applies not only to work but chores and activities around the home as well.
BODYBUILDERS AREN'T
AFRAID OF COMMITMENT
Committing to a fit and healthy lifestyle isn't easy. We have to make sacrifices, frequently opting for physical labor over fun or partying, and choosing healthy foods over fattening desserts or alcohol. These choices all take a great deal of commitment if we're going to be successful.
It's no secret why more people aren't bodybuilders. It's hard work and it takes sacrifice. Most people simply don't have the drive, dedication, and ambition to continually push themselves to follow through and commit to the lifestyle 24/7.
When you meet a male bodybuilder, rest assured he is committed to a cause and unafraid of taking on challenges. Commitment isn't a virtue that's only good for going to the gym; it also translates into other aspects of life. This can be an important factor in personal relationships, not to mention setting professional and educational goals. With bodybuilding, we train not just our body but our mind as well, learning patience and perseverance.
BODYBUILDERS ARE
GOOD COOKS
Ha! You knew this was coming. Most bodybuilders eat clean and healthy, but ordering in just about any restaurant is a minefield of bad food choices: high-fat foods, thousand-calorie sugary desserts, and tons of carbs. If nothing else, you'll learn to find better food choices after dating us, and be more inclined to select healthier options yourself.
For many bodybuilders, it's simply easier to learn to cook those same foods on our own. Dating a bodybuilder means you'll appreciate different dishes and foods that are incredibly clean and healthy. Besides saving on calories, you'll save plenty of money without having to be the one who cooks all the time.
PEOPLE WILL THINK
TWICE BEFORE
CONFRONTING YOU
One of the biggest differences I noticed after I transformed my physique by adding muscle was how people treated me. I now find they're more respectful and less confrontational. It makes interactions easier to manage. It also means the bad guys are much less likely to target me because they assume I can whip open a can of whoopass when necessary.
That holds true whether I'm on a date with a girl or out with my family. A big guy oftentimes doesn't even have to open his mouth; he is physically imposing and gets respect. Though there aren't any statistics to prove it, my hunch is that for most people, you're physically safer being with a bodybuilder.
YOUR LIFE MIGHT JUST
IMPROVE AS WELL
We all know when entering a relationship that some of our partner's characteristics begin to rub off on us. If you're dating a guy who works hard, is committed and dedicated in his everyday life, is focused on his goals, and lives a healthy life, it's natural that you'll be affected in a positive, affirming manner.
